Its originally graced the residence of the 16th century daimyo, Kiyomasa Kato. Later, it came under the control of the powerful Ii clan. Today, the Japanese Garden is the pride and symbol of the Hotel New Otani. Hanging lanterns cast a glow over its lush beauty; ponds reflect its profound serenity. The 40,000m2 grounds comprise one of the finest gardens in Japan.

Offering a view of Mt. Fuji to the southwest, this is JRA's largest track, famous for the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby), Japan Cup (GI), Japan Cup Dirt (GI), Yasuda Kinen (GI), and other races. The first portion of stand renovations was completed in spring 2003 and thrilling races take place on the long, 530-meter home stretch, which was lengthened by 25 meters. An upgraded large screen (11m x 60m) was installed in September 2006. The renovation was completely finished in April 2007.
